Improved heavy-duty turning with Shangao's new-RR93 and-R3 slots

Mountain High has introduced the new-RR93 and-R3 groove types as part of the RCMx turning insert series to help manufacturers effectively manage chips and extend tool life. These new series of products are suitable for applications such as turning railway wheels, combining new roughing and semi-finishing chip breakers with industry-leading Duratomic®Material technology.

Mountain High has introduced the new-RR93 and-R3 groove types as part of the RCMx turning insert series to help manufacturers effectively manage chips and extend tool life. These new series of products are suitable for applications such as turning railway wheels, combining new roughing and semi-finishing chip breakers with industry-leading Duratomic®Material technology!

-RR93 chip breaker extends tool life, improves production efficiency and product reliability, expands chip control work area, and improves surface quality. This new design replaces the-RR94 slot type.

-R3 channel type is especially suitable for semi-finishing applications of steel parts, difficult-to-machine stainless steel and super alloys. The position-optimized groove allows effective control of cutting even with cutting depths as small as 1.5mm, high feed rates ranging from 0.6mm/rev to 1.2mm/rev, and cutting speeds ranging from 90 m/min to 160 m/min (the correct cutting parameters are selected from these ranges depending on the material and machining conditions). The-R3 slot replaces the previous-R2 slot.

In the full range of RCMx inserts, the RCMT20-R2 of the forward screw clamp series groove type can significantly reduce machining vibration and achieve a smoother surface. It is especially suitable for finishing the surface area of railway wheels and semi-finishing applications of difficult-to-machine materials. The special edge treatment process and continuous toughness can suppress the formation of comb cracks and improve the safety of the cutting edge.

Duratomic®The CVD aluminum oxide coating process manipulates the coating composition at the atomic level, improving mechanical and thermal properties and achieving better performance. This technology is equipped with used cutting edge detection function, which can reduce cutting edge waste.

New-RR93 and-R3 slots and Duratomic®The materials have been tested for the most common railway wheel materials, including R7, R8, R9, M1, Class B and Class C.
