YESTOOL gun drill
"Gun drilling" is also called deep hole drilling , which represents advanced and efficient hole processing technology. It can be used not only to process deep holes (diameter-to-length ratio 1:250), but also to process shallow holes (diameter -to-length ratio 1:1). It consists of three parts: drill handle, drill rod and drill bit welded together, with a through hole in the middle. It is suitable for drilling cast iron, carbon steel, copper, aluminum alloy , alloy steel, etc. Gun drilling can complete drilling, boring and reaming at one time, and can process high precision (IT6-8 level), fine straightness (0.16-0.33mm/1000mm), and low roughness (Ra3.2- Ra0.1) hole. Its drilling speed reaches more than 30-100 meters/minute.

It is an effective deep hole machining tool that can process a wide range of deep holes from plastics such as fiberglass and Teflon to high-strength alloys such as P20 and Inconel. In deep hole processing with strict tolerance and surface roughness requirements, gun drilling can ensure the dimensional accuracy, positional accuracy and straightness of the hole.
In order to achieve satisfactory results when gun drilling deep holes, you must be proficient in the performance of the gun drilling system (including cutting tools, machine tools, fixtures, accessories, workpieces, control units, coolants and operating procedures). The skill level of the operator is also important. According to the structure of the workpiece and the hardness of the workpiece material, as well as the working conditions and quality requirements of the deep hole processing machine tool, only by selecting the appropriate cutting speed, feed, tool geometric parameters, carbide grade and coolant parameters can we obtain excellent processing performance. .
In production, straight groove gun drills are used the most. Depending on the diameter of the gun drill and the internal cooling holes through the transmission part, shank and cutter head, the gun drill can be made into two types: integral and welded. The coolant sprays out from the small hole on the flank surface. Gun drills can have one or two circular cooling holes, or a single waist-shaped hole.
Standard gun drills can process holes with diameters from 1.5mm to 76.2mm, and the drilling depth can be up to 100 times the diameter.
Although the feed per revolution of a gun drill is lower, its feed per minute is greater than that of a twist drill (feed per minute is equal to the feed per revolution multiplied by the tool or workpiece rotation speed).
Because the cutter head is made of carbide, the cutting speed of gun drills is much higher than that of high-speed steel drills. This increases the feed per minute of the gun drill. In addition, when high-pressure coolant is used, the chips can be effectively discharged from the hole to be processed, and there is no need to periodically retract the tool during the drilling process to discharge the chips.
